iTunes has grown into more than a player for “tunes”. Now it handles movies, television shows, podcasts and more. It also serves as a syncing tool for now a phone with contacts, calendars ringtones etc… So we know that iTunes has become more of a “allMedia” program. The name “iTunes” does not suffice and the question is, what is in Apple’s plans for its media side in terms of branding? I hope they change the name for iTunes to something more fitting because it becoming unclear what they are doing with iTunes as a brand. Lets take look at a snafu on Apples part.

The dialogue states that I am purchasing music, when indeed I am purchasing a TV show.

This dialogue correctly states that I am purchasing an item or items.

This is just one many different dialogues that passed through the ranks at Apple. A very good friend Daniel Wilson starting pointing out some to me and it actually shocked me how some simple things can pass by some great minds. The fact remains that Apple will have to address the this issue. iTunes is a wonderful application, I use it everyday. It still needs to be improved and rebranded.

The iPhone’s influence on the mobile market is great to say the least. It is just like Apple’s desktop and laptop computers in that the software works in tandem with the hardware. I currently use an iPhone and love it greatly. My previous “smart phone” was a Palm Treo 650 I bought in November 2005. The buzz over the iPhone missing functions are a good thing as this will make the iPhone even better. When your #1 you get attacked.

My Palm Treo 650’s call list had a drop down menu. The default selected is “All”, showing you all of the calls incoming, outgoing, and missed. The iPhone’s Recent calls section currently has two of these options on it’s selection bar on top of the list which are “All” and “Missed”. I was not happy with this, now all incoming, outgoing and missed where on one list with no indication difference between incoming and outgoing. There is an indication of missed calls, which are in red. My suggest would be that missed calls in red can go into the incoming call list naturally. We can create an outgoing calls list on a separate tab and eliminate the missed call list completely. The “Clear” button on upper right corner is in same color as the selected “All call list”. The diagram below shows my revisions.
